Further information for foreign applicants

Students in their final MSc year and with MSc degree can apply to the doctorate school. (Degree is needed on the entrance exam)

Default admission deadline: each year 15th May and 15th November (Note that deadlines for applying for Scholarships may be different, typically earlier dates)

Please note that application to the School can be done only by choosing one of the topics announced at doktori.hu. After selecting a topic contact the supervisor of that topic. The application can be done only if the supervisor accepts the student.

Process of the entrance exam

1.    The Doctoral Council of Natural Sciences and Information Technology is responsible for the administration of the entrance exam (administering applications, organising the entrance exam, aggregating the results, notifying candidates).

2.    The Pekár Imre Doctoral School of Mechanical Engineering is informed by the Secretary of the Doctoral Council of Natural Sciences and Information Technology of the number and data of the candidates who have applied for the entrance exam.

3.    The composition of the entrance examination boards is approved by the Doctoral Council of Natural Sciences and Information Technology based on the proposal of the Pekár Imre Doctoral School of Mechanical Engineering by 30 April each year, or by 30 October if amended. The term of office of the boards is one year.

4.    The Pekár Imre Doctoral School of Mechanical Engineering notifies the Doctoral Council of Natural Sciences and Information Technology of the time and place of the entrance exam. The Pekár Imre Doctoral School of Mechanical Engineering organises the entrance exam.

5.    The secretary of the Doctoral Council of Natural Sciences and Information Technology checks the necessary documents and the proposal of the supervisor and ensures the completion of them. He/she then notifies the candidates of the date and place of the entrance exam and sends the candidates' files to the entrance examination board.

6.    The Pekár Imre Doctoral School of Mechanical Engineering notifies the Doctoral Council of Natural Sciences and Information Technology of the entrance exam results and the recommendation for admission.

7.    The Pekár Imre Doctoral School of Mechanical Engineering ranks the applicants according to their scores in the entrance exam and offers a variable number of scholarships to the highest scorers each year. Candidates who pass the entrance exam but do not receive a scholarship
