Core Member of the Pekár Imre Doctoral School Among the World's Top 2% of Scientists

Another international achievement: Prof. Dr. Ákos Lakatos, a core member of the Imre Pekár Doctoral School, ranks among the world's top 2% of scientists based on his career-long research impact.

Prof. Dr. Ákos Lakatos, a core member of the Imre Pekár Doctoral School of Mechanical Engineering Sciences at the University of Debrecen, has received another prestigious international scientific recognition. Following his success in last year's ranking based on annual research performance, the professor has now also been included among the world's top 2% of scientists in the ranking evaluating career-long scientific achievements.

International Recognition for Career-Long Scientific Achievements

The internationally recognized scientific ranking, compiled by researchers at Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier and commonly known as the Stanford List, uses data from the Scopus database to assess researchers' scientific impact and international citation performance.

The ranking is published annually in two categories. The single-year ranking evaluates researchers' citation impact during a particular year, while the career-long ranking assesses the cumulative scientific impact of researchers throughout their entire academic careers.

Following his previous success in the single-year ranking, Prof. Dr. Ákos Lakatos has now also been included in the 2026 career-long ranking, based on data available up to December 31, 2025. This recognition confirms the international scientific significance of his sustained research activities and achievements throughout his career.

Teaching and Research in the Doctoral Programme

Prof. Dr. Ákos Lakatos contributes to doctoral education at the Imre Pekár Doctoral School of Mechanical Engineering Sciences, teaching courses in both Hungarian and English. His teaching activities primarily focus on Thermal Engineering and Thermophysics of Materials, providing doctoral students with essential theoretical and practical knowledge for advanced engineering research.

His research focuses on investigating the thermal and thermophysical properties of materials, as well as developing new materials suitable for thermal insulation applications. This work is particularly relevant to energy-efficient buildings, advanced thermal insulation technologies, and sustainable engineering solutions.

These research areas are also highly significant in doctoral education, as expertise in modern materials science, thermal engineering, and energy-related technologies contributes to the development of new technologies and innovative engineering solutions.

Strengthening the International Scientific Reputation of the Doctoral School

The professor's international recognition is not only an outstanding personal scientific achievement but also an important success for the Imre Pekár Doctoral School of Mechanical Engineering Sciences. The involvement of internationally recognized researchers in doctoral education contributes to the high quality of doctoral training, the development of future generations of researchers, and the strengthening of the Doctoral School's national and international academic connections.

This achievement also demonstrates that the Doctoral School's teaching staff conduct internationally significant research in fields closely related to current and future engineering challenges.

The Imre Pekár Doctoral School of Mechanical Engineering Sciences warmly congratulates Prof. Dr. Ákos Lakatos on this prestigious international recognition and wishes him continued success in his teaching and research activities!
